Very sturdy and easily stored!
Prior to my first order (8 pack) back on December 18, 2019 I did a lot of research on water containers and this product stood out for it’s quality. I made a second purchase on April 10, 2019 (8 pack) because these containers are that good!! My most recent order (4 pack) was made on December 13, 2020. Our emergency storage supply is now up to 20 containers/100 gallons of water.Likes:● they are very sturdy● they hold 5 gallons● they are stackable● we can take them on the go● they are safe (food grade FDA compliant)● dual use feature (storage only or use with spigot)Helpful information:● 1 gallon of water weighs approximately 8 lbs. (full container = 40lbs.)● if you use the spigot you have to punch out the center of one of the caps● to use the spigot you must turn the container on it’s sideSome helpful hints:We did not notice any initial smell but we let the containers air out for 72 hours prior to first use to eliminate any stagnant air or odor that may have remained as a result of the production process. Prior to first use we rinsed out the containers using a solution of water and vinegar. We tag the containers as part of our storage plan rotating the water after every 6 months. When the 6 month limit arrives we filter the water for daily use, and when the container is empty we wash it using the water and vinegar solution. This process works great and ensures that we always have filtered water for daily use, as well as stored water in clean containers for times of emergency. While the 40 lbs weight may be challenging to some, it may prove worthwhile to buy the 5 gal containers and fill them to a capacity which weighs what you can handle. Why should you do that? It may be cost effective and if so you will have the extra capacity option available should you ever want to use it.If you intend to use the spigot you may want to check out the accessory kit that is offered (2 photos in this review). After punching out the center of the cap you will be left with one container without a solid cap if you do not plan otherwise. As stated above I made three purchases of this product and may be buying more in the future!!My review of the 8 pack may be found here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R4ERXHX28AMTV?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp

Great for water storage in small places + “How To” info
I bought a 4-pack of these 5-Gallon containers to store water in. They were a little pricey but they are top quality products. They come with screw-on caps that have a sealed plug in the center. After filling the container the cap is tightened with a supplied wrench. Each cap has 28 “locking” indents molded into the bottom section of the cap that lock into place with matching indents in the container when the cap is installed. (Like the top of a soda bottle) When needed the plug in the center can be removed and the supplied spigot can be screwed into the threaded hole to dispense the water. The threaded portion (in the container) of the vent is also sealed (can be punctured when needed) and the vent cap screws on tightly. I’ve got them stacked 4 high in a closet but I wouldn’t go any higher due to the weight. If you plan on using these “jugs” to store emergency water for up to 5 years you need to follow a couple of steps to guarantee the water will remain safe for that long. (1) Fill each container up to the 5 gallon mark with tap water and add 1/2 cap of Clorex regular bleach (do not use scented bleach). Push the “Retainer Cap” that came installed in each container back in place. (do not install the screw-on cap yet). Now shake the solution around inside making sure that it touches all internal surfaces. Now set the container on it’s side and let it stand for 2-3 minutes. Then rotate it 90 degrees and do the same for each of the 4 sides of the container. This process kills any bacteria inside. (2) pour out the solution and rinse completely twice using tap water. You are now ready to fill the container with your drinking water. I used purified and filtered drinking water in gallon jugs that I purchased from the grocery store. (3) Pour 5 one gallon jugs of drinking water into the container. Do not put more than 5 gallons in, leave some space at the top. IMPORTANT … add 40 drops of Water Preserver ( 8 drops per gallon) to the water. (available on Amazon for about $10, enough for a 55-Gal drum). Now install the white screw on cap using the supplied “Bung Wrench and tighten it down. Leave the plug in the center of the screw-on cap in place. You don’t remove the plug until you are ready to use the water. The “Water Preserver” will keep the water inside fresh and drinkable for a minimum of 5 years. Store the Bung Wrench and the Spigot close to the water containers for use when needed. Keep in a cool dry location that is out of the sun light. Do not store next to any liquid that is flammable or poisonous. If you follow all of the above advise you will have safe water when you need it and these 5 gallon containers are perfect to store in small places. They store vertically. The height of 4 containers stacked up is 57.5 inches tall (x) 11 inches wide (x) 9.5 inches deep. ( or you can rotate the container (width / depth) to fit your space.
