Works really well
Works great. Diverts water to my water retention system perfectly. It took less than 1in. Of rain to fill two 55 gallon barrels.

WOrks well, easy to install
Installed this to fill a water barrel. I like the ability to let the water run thru if the barrel is full. The knob is semi-intuitive – you have to go beyond the mid position to get full diversion. The hose that is supplied is very good if your barrel is close. You do have to know how to use a tin snips to cut into the downspout. Measuring is also very important. I do wish that someone would post a good workable diagram of how to install more than one barrel to catch overflow, and then be able to drain from the entire set of barrels. I have a solution but it involves a lot of connections and valves. I would recommend this unit. Only time will tell how well it will survive the Florida sun.

Works ok with a few almosts!
My rain water collection system is comprised of a converted recycled bin and this diverter. No I didn’t steal the recycle bin. My subdivision changed waste disposal companies and the old one didn’t want their bins back. I’m guessing it will hold 50-60 gallons. This diverter valve works ok. Installation is designed to be easy, but I thought the fit was too loose and sloppy so I loosened the downspout brackets and pushed the bottom section up to wedge this diverter in a bit more solidly. See the photos. If I have to take it apart to clean it, I will have to loosen and slide the downspout down to get it out. If you don’t have gutter guards you will have to clean it out periodically. Notice the hose clamp on the outlet tube. This is not included and may not be needed but I am picky about hoses without clamps. It would have been nice to have one included. The diverter is designed for 3” and 4” downspouts. The top is made for 4” but it comes with a nice plastic insert to accommodate a 3” downspout. The bottom has a 3” outlet so if you use this on s 4” downspout there will be some water restriction. It shouldn’t be an issue for all but torrential downpours. I would like to have seen it designed with rubber grommets to adapt and seal both the top and bottom. I would also liked to have seen some screw hanger slots molded into the case. I don’t care for the diverter valve just sitting loosely in the downspout and relying on the downspout for support. I do like the easy reversibility of this valve from output on the right side to output on the left side. Overall I think it will work just fine. A little bit more effort would have made it great.

Great solution
Great product – I like that I can divert all, some or none with the unit.

Easily installed, but a sloppy fit.
I want to acknowledge that I don’t have a bracket holding the top part of my downspout in place and that is part of my problem. I like the construction and the materials used to make this diverter. I believe that they tried to design it to work on different size downspouts. It has a top piece for 2×3” downspout that is discarded for a 3×4” downspout. I think it would have been handy if it was designed to fill in the bottom gap for a 3×4” downspout. The bottom piece leaves a gap when going into a 3×4” downspout (see photo) this adds to the instability of the whole unit. The tubing is flexible and reinforced, which is great but it comes collapsed and folded around itself in the box. I tried to put a stick inside it and let it sit that way for a few days to see if it would relax but it would not. I tied to the tubing until I get my rain barrel installed. It has not rained yet so I’ll need to update this review after that.

Easy installation
Took me 7 min. ea. to install. I like the design of the product. The first one I installed, it rained (heavy) two days later and I had the nob at full open, my 50 gl barrel filled up in 20 min.

Needs additional detail work
The item does work as described and it is easy to flip the discharge tube form left to right or which direction you need it to go. The instructions do indicate that the downspout needs to be attached to the wall above and below the diverter. What you need to know is the gutter will need additional tie straps immediately above and below the diverter. This will make it tight and secure. You also need to make sure the diverter is well engaged with the downspout. If you do not do this the diverter will be unstable and become dislodged form the downspout. Another item is the discharge tube. It is rather flimsy and will easily kink if not given a pretty straight path to the barrel. Hope this helps.
