Reliable Camp Food Kit
Took this Mountain House weekend kit on a remote camping trip last summer. No duds in the bunch – everything was actually edible, which is saying something for freeze-dried meals.Only real issue? The water measurements and sitting times seem more like suggestions than rules. Had to play it by ear – some meals needed extra time, others ended up a bit soupy. What you need to know:- All meals actually palatable- Good variety in the kit- Easy to prepare- Water ratios need adjusting- Pack works for a weekend- Simple enough to makePro tip: Start with slightly less water than suggested – you can always add more, but can’t take it out.Bottom line: Solid choice for weekend camping trips. Just be ready to experiment with water amounts and timing.

Really tasty
Good enough for nights when I’m just too wiped out to cook. Easy, quick clean up. Perfect for keeping trips to the wild simple. Will purchase again.

very tasty
turned out to be a lot better than I expected some of the recipes you might want to play with the water just a little bit maybe a little less maybe a little more than everyone I’ve had so far I’ve been delicious

Takes long to cook!
These pouches are convenient, if only one keeps in mind the length of time the meal takes to get ready. Unlike other similar trekking meals, these take a whopping 14 minutes to be ready, so if one needs to eat as a matter of urgency (low blood sugar, for example) they are NOT suitable. This is very important information for many. Though ultimately tasty, I had to rush in with a Snickers bar while the meal was taking its sweet time to get ready!

At £45 for a box of 6 meals this represents excellent value for money. These meals are hard to come by in the UK but seeing as these were on offer I decided to order 3 boxes.I Ordered on Sunday afternoon and they arrived the following Saturday so 6 days from the US to the UK.The 3 boxes all have an BBE date of 2053 and they cost me a total of £147 (including shipping and taxes) for 18 meals with each meal containing 2 portions.Overall a great deal.
