Comfort Food for the Great Outdoors!
On my recent backpacking trip, I decided to try the Mountain House Creamy Macaroni & Cheese, and it did not disappoint. After a long day on the trail, I was eager to refuel, and this meal was just what I needed. With no need for complicated cooking, I simply added hot water to the pouch and, in under 10 minutes, I had a warm, cheesy delight ready to eat.The macaroni noodles were perfectly cooked, and the creamy sauce had just the right amount of cheesiness to satisfy my cravings. It was so convenient to eat straight from the pouch, which meant no cleanup after a tiring day. Whether you’re backpacking, camping, or just looking for a quick meal at home, this creamy mac and cheese is a must-try! I can definitely see it becoming a staple in my camping food supplies.

Yummy
So this Mac and cheese was pretty good. Not sure if we didn’t get our water hot enough but every 3rd bite or so you’d come across a not fully done noodle. My oldest daughter started eating hers before the water was even done. She loved the freeze dried texture. Reminded her of astronaut ice cream. Creamy, great flavor! Would order again.

Good flavor.
7/10 good flavor. This one is not bad. Could be a bit more tangy with more aged cheddar. But for emergencies this Mac and Cheese will do. Definitely would buy again. Be sure to add the right amount of water in the beginning. If the sauce is too thick the noodles will not fully hydrate, even if you add more water later.

10/10
I’m an absolute mac n’ cheese snob and I’m so impressed with this product. I had my doubts when I first opened the package because it’s just so powdery and light, but once I opened the bag after that first few minutes I was sold. You can immediately smell the burnt bits of cheese that every M&C lover fights for on a homemade pan. It took a full 10+ minutes for the consistency of the noodles to soften and lose all the crunch, so be patient. The closest commercial product I can compare the taste to is a Stouffer’s frozen meal, with the biggest difference being a thinner sauce. Overall, this was perfect at the end of a long hike and nothing says comfort like a good bowl of mac n’ cheese. Immediately ordered two more packs after getting back home.

Nowhere close to as good as I expected
I have heard good things about this flavor of mountain house and have enjoyed other flavors of mountain House foods. I brought two of these on my camping trip, the first one I followed the instructions exactly with the right amount of water. However, the pasta came out so soupy, additionally, the noodles were not fully cooked, and I was really disappointed by the flavor. I did not taste authentic at all. The next day I tried again with the next packet, made sure to add a little less water, so it would be less soupy, that helped the flavor a little bit, but I was still disappointed with how the noodles were cooked after using boiling water and the overall flavor and cheese they use could definitely be improved a lot. On my next camping trip. I am considering bringing his mac & cheese instead as I think it would be almost the same effort to cook and it would taste so much better.
