compact & bright with excellent build quality and a long lasting rechargeable battery
I don’t write many reviews, but I’ve been using this flashlight for 3 weeks now and this thing is awesome. I’ve used it so far for dog walks and a short power outage. Admittedly, it’s probably overkill for my use cases, but I never know when I’ll NEED something like this…so I’m glad I have it. The low brightness settting is just bright enough for my use. Medium is practically perfect – cars no longer blow through stop signs when I’m out for a walk. And the high setting will light up my neighborhood sidewalks for almost an entire block. The build just feels solid and well-made. Beam cannot be focused, but that isn’t needed for a flashlight this bright. The battery is fantastic too. I used it for about 5 hours total in various brightness settings before a recharge was needed. It probably wasn’t necessary, but I bought a spare SL-B50 just in case and because it was so reasonably priced. I highly recommend this flashlight.

Great light. Powerful. Not for EDC.
This is a great light. Compact for a 2000 Lumen light. Easy to charge. Haven’t had it too long but feels very well made. A bit larger than the Surefire I’ve had for years. Main use for me will be around my property. I have acreage, so I can see what’s going on from my front door. Not something I would want to carry in a pocket, although would be good to store next to a home defense weapon, if you don’t have a light mounted. (or even if you do)The lights pictured from top to bottom (purchase date):Surefire Fury – 500 Lumen (November 2013)Streamlight 89000 ProTac 2.0 – 2000 Lumen (July 2024)Streamlight 66320 MacroStream – 500 Lumen (July 2024)Streamlight 66604 MicroStream – 250 Lumen (April 2023)If I were choosing a light between the 3 Streamlight options. MicroStream for EDC, MacroStream for Hiking / Camping, ProTac 2.0 for Home/Property Use (I have acreage, too bright for inside unless for home defense purposes). If I were to start with just one, it would be the MacroLight.

Amazing duty/edc light
Love this light. Has been my go to duty light for about a decade. Upgraded to the 2.0. The battery life is great but when it’s dying, you get no light as opposed to low output. Extremely lightweight and fits in a back pocket with ease. Nice design with water proof seal covering the charging port. Decent charge time. Great mid price point light.

Another great product from stream light
This is one of my go to lights when I need one smaller than my HL-4 HL-5 and HL-6. Extremely bright in a small package with the 26650 battery it lasts a very long time very high-quality and very robust. And also uses the updated USB-C port for charging this new design stream light has you don’t even have to remove the battery a collar slides down, allowing you to access the charging port. I would highly recommend this product.

Quality you can depend on
My wife and I walk out dogs every evening after dark. We live on acreage and also camp a lot. We need and use quality flashlights for a wide variety of purposes. This light was purchased primarily for the evening dog walks. We have coyotes and other critters in our area and having the 2000 lumen output to look a bit further out if we hear something was appealing. The ability to easily recharge this light without removing the battery was a big selling point for us. One of the flashlights we use regularly for the dog walks is a Surefire G2X Pro. We use rechargeable CR123 batteries in the light, but they have to be removed to recharge. The Protac 2.0 is a substantial light, and the high build quality is obvious. It is ten-tap programable which makes it easy to select from 1 of the 3 available programs. We have ours set for low, medium, high with 1, 2 or 3 taps of the tailcap button. Very intuitive and easy to use. There is also an option with a strobe, high and low and a high only option. For typical walking in complete darkness we use the medium output. The low is great for doing any upclose tasks or seeing the area immediately around you. The high mode definitely lets you see and identify things at a good distance and would be very blinding if you shined it in someone’s face. We are very happy with the quality of performance of this light. For us the only downside is it’s not made in the USA like many of the Surefire lights.

Still Deciding if I like it
The quality is there in spades and I already have two TLR-1 HL Streamlights mounted on shotguns, but not sure if I really like this light. It’s more than bright enough with 2k lumens and the field of view is great. The battery has great endurance and is easy to recharge; really a plus. It has three options for light intensity (hi and low) and strobe, albeit a bit awkward to program/operate.So what’s my problem liking it? Aside from the instructions, which are so small that they are best viewed online, maybe it’s the size. It’s 6 inches long and while I have large hands, it’s hard to operate with one hand. Not impossible, but awkward. Compounding that are the three protrutions at the rear where the control button is. What is their function? Possible they can be used as a striker, but why the two holes in one ear? Lanyard? Those “ears” sure make it hard to operate one-handed with your thumb. To me, this is a small flashlight (a tweener) that is neither compact nor large. Once on, it is a nice size to hold yet too large to operate one-handed. It can be adapted for a gun mounted system with an integral port for remote operation, which is nice, but there are better options imo. I’m still trying to like this lite.

One thing I love about this flashlight are the 3 separate modes you’re able to use when turning on the flashlight.- High- Strobe- LowIn my profession, I mostly ever use high. However, the other options are great. This flashlight does have the tendency to get hot quickly so be mindful when operating. It is a re-chargeable USB-C battery that appears to be custom made, so if it ever loses its ability to hold charge you’ll likely have to order another through Streamlight.

It’s incredibly bright it easily causes temporary blindness and disorientation especially in strobe mode

Surefire has been my ‘go to’ for decades. When both failed it was time for a new purchase.Streamlight have a solid 50 year reputation for making robust, quality equipment. The price of Surefires nowadays is simply astronomical and this great torch was a clear winner.Very happy with this purchase.

I most like the long battery life and the size. I’m glad they still use a crystal lens instead of plastic. I’m happy that it uses USB like most of my other devices.I don’t like that the charging port cover isn’t more secure. Other brands have a screw closed port that is much better. Also, the charging port it just the one on the battery. Streamlight just left a hole in the side of the flashlight barrel and then put a cheap sliding cover over it. Weird. If water gets in, it would go directly into the battery compartment. Also perhaps, because the usb c port is the one on the battery itself, it lacks the internal equipment for any sort of fast charge..it takes just over 6 hours to charge this light and that doesn’t seem to change when using a fast charger.I really don’t like that hole they left leading to the battery charging port. On previous models there were internal charging circuits independent of the convenient direct to battery charging port. The internals were much safer from exposure to the elements. They send to have combined four LEDs rather than using one superior one. It only has so-so better life from the annoying proprietary battery that is over $50 Canadian to replace. There are batteries that are more readily available that are also superior to this one at a much lower price. Streamlight wants you to have to buy any extras or replacements from them. The beam is very wide. A flood, I’d say. The 2000 don’t seem as bright as they should as a result. Fit also drops down from that maximum very quickly. It comes with a pocket clip and a holster that is also fine. I use this light working security and I find the included holster is good enough to not motivate me to buy a nicer one. I like it enough. The tail switch is too recessed. You have to use it to see what I mean the protac hl-usb has the perfect tail switch, in my opinion, to compare.Anyway…. For the price…. It’s just okay.If you want something from streamlight specifically that offers usb charging and decent bettery life… This is good enough. But not at the price. The flashlight is smooth and offers very little grip..so little that it slides in my hand when I operate the switch. Especially when I’m wearing gloves. The threads for the tailswitch are shallow and not long enough. I put grip tape, like for making stairs safer from slipping on, around it. That fixed that.. I’ll post pictures. The charging port still opened perfectly.I’d recommend the HL-X over this light. The hl-x uses inexpensive 18640 batteries that are easy to find. The HL-X so allows for the use of cr123 batteries in a pinch, which I like. It is also a better size to carry, less expensive, has a way higher peak candela, despite its max lumens being half the protac 2.0. it’s also fully sealed from the elements…. No external charging port. The threads are also deeper and there are more of them. It’s really a better light. Pocket clip that works.either direction and a better tailswitch. Even the grip is good.
